Northern Metalic Sales is a Canadian Independent Wholesale Industrial Distributor based in Grande Prairie, AB with operations across Alberta & BC.

Northern Metalic Sales is part of a larger, diverse group of companies with interests in wholesale distribution, oilfield service & supply, lubricants distribution, land and real estate development, rail construction & transload, and finance.

Overview:

We are currently seeking an individual to fill the position of Purchaser.

Specific Responsibilities include:

As a Purchaser, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Analyzes product requirements and place orders as needed to meet customer requirements considering inventory parameters, lead times, and vendor specifics. Expedites orders as necessary.
• Work closely with suppliers and customer service team to build relationships and resolve issues.
• Drive operational excellence and best practices.
• Review open orders, back-order, and lost sales reports for timely adjustment of inventory.
• Purchasing and sourcing of product to meet customer requirements in a timely and efficient manner
• Assistance with marketing initiatives

Qualifications

• Comfortable working with the public
• Able to work well without direct supervision
• Have excellent communication/negotiation skills
• Fluent knowledge of Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, Power Point)
• Previous Industry knowledge would be helpful
• Team members are required to assist in all other areas of the branch. Cross training in these areas is expected
• Purchasing experience: 2 years (preferred)

Education, Skills and Experience Requirements:

• Post-secondary education considered an asset
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Words and Outlook)
• Sound knowledge of industrial products an asset
• Organized, self-motivated team player, able to work under pressure

Schedule:

• Job Type: Full-time
• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Hinton, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
