We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team at Side Asset Management Ltd. to assist with our Real Estate and Rail divisions.

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for coordinating financial accounting and reporting activities while ensuring they are being performed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with established time frames and company and professional standards. This includes preparing reconciliations, entries, preparation of year end files for external review, and providing support to the business unit for all ad-hoc requests and financial analysis.

This role will assist in reviewing the work of the finance team to ensure delegated work is timely, accurate and delivered on schedule. Position will also have responsibilities ranging from cash management and reconciliations, accounts receivable, accounts payable and performing other accounting analyses as requested.

Specific Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain timely and accurate general ledger records, including fixed asset listings and depreciation
  • Coordinate the preparation of year end working papers
  • Perform various account analyses and reconciliations and on-going review of journal entries
  • Reconciliation and analysis of annual operating costs for Real Estate division
  • Serve as liaison for corporate controller, external accountants while ensuring financial information is presentable.
  • Interface with all internal departments

Qualifications include:

  • Exceptional data entry skills and attention to detail
  • Experience in various software programs, including Sage 50 and Microsoft Office
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experienced required
  • A strategic mindset

Job Type:

  • Full time

Salary negotiable and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Grande Prairie, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
